Expert Guides

When it comes to fishing, having an experienced guide can make all the difference. Our guides at Flaming Gorge Resort are not only knowledgeable about the lake and its fish species, but they also have years of experience in guiding and teaching others how to fish.

They'll be there every step of the way, from helping you choose the right equipment to giving pointers on casting and reeling in your catch. By the end of your tour, you'll feel like a pro yourself!

Variety of Species

One of the reasons our guided Flaming Gorge fishing tours are so popular is because they offer anglers the chance to catch a variety of species. Rainbow trout is a common catch in Flaming Gorge Reservoir, as is lake trout - considered one of the most valuable prizes.

You'll also find species like Kokanee salmon, smallmouth bass and many others. Our guides will take you to the best spots for each species, increasing your chances of a successful and exciting catch.

Beautiful Surroundings

Not only is Flaming Gorge Reservoir a prime fishing destination, but it also offers stunning views and peaceful surroundings. As you fish, you'll have the chance to admire the surrounding red cliffs and clear blue waters, making for a truly unforgettable experience.

If you're looking to escape into nature while enjoying some fantastic fishing, our guided tours are the perfect choice. And with our knowledgeable guides as your companions, you'll learn more about this beautiful area and its wildlife than you ever thought possible.

Some Basics

Fishing License:

Although the Flaming Gorge Reservoir is in Utah and Wyoming, for your trip you will be fishing in Utah only.   Each adult (12 and older) will be required to have a Utah Fishing license.  These are available online at  https://wildlife.utah.gov/licenses/licenses-permits.html or in our Fly Shop when you get here.

Parking Pass:

You will most likely meet your guide at one of the boat ramps. There is no entrance fee to Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area.  However, a Recreation Use pass is required at all major boat launches and at the Little Hole National Recreation Trail below the Flaming Gorge Dam.  Permits can be purchased at kaisos at the parking areas or we also have them available for purchase in our Fly Shop.  Permit fees are:  1 day = $5, 7 day = $15, or Annual = $35.

Where to meet your Guide:

Our guides like to have the boat and everything ready for you.  They will contact you before your trip and let you know the perfect time and place to meet so you can begin your adventure!

What To Expect

We believe there is no other place on earth as beautiful as the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area.  The “Flaming” red rocks, steep cliffs, canyons, evergreen forests and wildlife surround the 91 miles of lake shore of Flaming Gorge.

If you are here for a scenery trip, you will not be disappointed.  If you are here to fish you can expect to catch Rainbow Trout, Kokanee Salmon, possibly a trophy Mackinaw, or you may even snag a Small Mouth Bass or Burbot.  Though all fish are seasonal by nature – there is amazing trout fishing year round.

Our skilled and experienced guides are sure to create an unforgettable experience.  They supply all the necessary fishing and safety equipment.  Whether you like fly fish, troll, or cast fishing, our guides cater to all experience levels from beginners to the most experienced of fisherman.
