The Green River is a popular fly fishing stream and is considered one of the best tailwater fisheries in North America. This world-class, blue-ribbon, trout fishery is home to Brown, Rainbow, Cutthroat, and Cut-Bow Hybrid Trout. The Division of Wildlife Resources in Utah states that the Green River has between 8,000 and 22,000 fish per mile between the dam and Red Creek Rapids.

There are three different sections of the Green River to choose from when fishing the Green River or taking a fishing guide trip with us:
Section A:This seven mile section starts at Flaming Gorge Dam and ends at Little Hole. It is famous because of over 100,000 fish and the high red canyon walls. Most of the river traffic lies in this area. There is also a well groomed and marked trail along this section of the river.
Section B:This section is nine miles from Little Hole to Browns Park. There are plenty of fish available, but not as much as in the A section. Fishing in this section is definitely best by boat. Make sure you have a good skill level because the fish fight hard in this area of the Green River. This area has some of the best dry dropper water in the world.
Section C:This section is 12 miles of Browns Park and is the least crowded. It's a favorite for mid-summer drifters. This area is said to be the best place to catch a football size trout on a dry fly. The quality of fishing is not as steady in this area.
The river runs through the bottom of a narrow, deep, red canyon gorge. The canyon's beauty distracts even the most serious of fisherman's concentration. To get the full effect of the corridor, consider an overnight camp trip and sleep under the stars next to the river in an isolated site on section "B". Our experienced guides use top quality equipment to give you a safe and memorable trip.

Green River is open to fishing in every season, whether you're a novice or an expert fisherman. Warm temperatures starting in March cause fish to become active and fishing really picks up. June is a beautiful time of year to fish Green River. Fall is a challenging time of the year to see how skilled you are against some of the most selective trout you'll every find. The fish continue to feed during the wintertime, while the number of fisherman decreases. Fishing the Green River on warm, sunny days in January, February, and March can lead to hatches and excellent fishing. Gently falling snow can also bring fish to the surface. No matter the time of year, come visit Flaming Gorge and fish the beautiful Green River. We are open year round and offer lodging, a restaurant, and a fly shop so be sure to check out our specials and packages and see all that we have to offer.

Please take a moment to take our survey about the conservation of the Green River and the management of its resources.
Flaming Gorge is famous for its trophy lake trout. Good numbers of 30+ pound fish are caught each year. The Utah record went 51 lb 8 oz, and there may yet be a bigger one swimming in the reservoir. Fishing is also very good for rainbows, brown trout, kokanee salmon and smallmouth bass. Flaming Gorge Reservoir is also popular for its ice fishing and can be a great sport. The best fishing is usually in areas which have recently frozen. In general, smaller fish are caught on the north end of the reservoir and the fish become large as the ice progresses southward. So take a trip to Flaming Gorge Reservoir and try your hand at landing that lunker!
